These standards will improve the integrity of the national statistical systems by making it more difficult for politicians to "fiddle" with release dates, procedures, etc. As well, users will have greater access to formation on the methodologies used for producing the data. Because such standards will enhance the relative value of statistics more generally within government, there should be a positive influence on the quality and availability of information to all users, both inside and outside a country.
