Isi artikelThe global market for telecommunications equipment and sevices will be growing at the rate of about 9,2 percent per year during the second half of the 1990 s, compared to a rate of about 3,1 percent for world gross domestic product. Total sales, estimated at about $ 750 billion in 1995, should reach $ 1200 billion by 2000. Services will continue to account for four - fifth and equipment for one - fifth of total expenditures. North america and western europe, which currently account for two - thirds of the market, will see their share decline only slightly during the coming years. While much of the action will take place in the highly developed economies, several industrializing and developing nations are "leapfrogging" to digital networks and cellular systems. However, users of telephones and related appratus will not see "seamless" transmission or completely unified networks before 2000.
