Isi artikelThe number of vehicles roamed the world s streets and highways in 1995 reaching about 600 million, where 80% are passenger cars and die rest are trucks and buses, this number would probably reading one billion vehicles before 2010. More than 99%ofthese vehicles using crude oil based fuel (69% gasoline and 29% diesel) as their fuel, and the rest of than using Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), about 0,9%, and Natural Gas, about 0,1%. Until now there is still an effort to raise the 4 stroke engine perfomance, either the Spark Ignition Engine (SI Engine) or the Compression Ignition Engine (CI Engine), so that the engine could produce a maximum power with a lower exhaust gas emission. To solve the problem of depending on crude oil based fuel (gasoline and diesel oil), it is necessary to conduct a research about the effect of a 4 stroke SI engine performance toward the spark timing change fueled with gasoline and CNG. Performance in this context means torsion, power, and fuel consumption of the SI Engine. From this research, it is bind that the best perfomance for using gasoline as fuel was reached at 80 BTDC spark timing under a similar rotation per minute for the power and fuel consumption. For the best performance using gasoline and still attaching the Convertion Kit, it was reached at 8° BTDC on a different engine rotation per minute. The best perfomance using CNG as fuel was found at the 11° BTDC under a different engine rotation per minute.
