Isi artikel
Within the circle of Muslim radical groups in Southeast Asia, there seems to be a common goal to establish an Islamic Caliphate (khilâfah IslâmIyah) in this region. The existence of vast network of these radical groups covering Indonesia, Moro (the Philipines), South Thailand, Malaysia, and South Asia and al-Qaeda in Southeast Asia strengthens this assumption. In Indonesian context, the emergence of this idea is directly related to Jamâ’ah IslâmIyah (JI). However, the idea of establishing an Islamic caliphate in this region was first put forward by Kartosuwirjo, the leader of Darul islam.
