Isi artikel
In the current Indonesia, theological violence meaning violence in the name of religion has been mushrooming. It raises a question then, why religion believers do violent act against the others and use religion to justify their action? Religion has relation to violence act because of three reasons such as ideology, identity and ethic legitimacy on inter human relation. Furthermore, religion requires its believers to be both internally fanatic and externally tolerance and it implicates to the rise of religious and secular fundamentalist groups that have potency to do theological violence acts. This potency will be more dangerous when related to many factors such as truth-claims, cult, longing for ideal era; the ends justify the means and holly war. Philosophically, epistemology of violence is based on the identification of “you” and “I”, “we” and “they” in the process of inter human recognition. Meanwhile on the source side, violence comes from internal and external sources. The first is instinct and the second is stimuli. In the theological violence context, internal source relates to the problem of beliefs and psychological condition. External source relates to the problem of religious leaders, over responsive to the outside condition of economics, politics, social and culture of society as well as global injustice. To overcome, it is needed to recognize the change of psychological condition case-by-case and time-by-time that tends to raise violence acts. Also, it is needed to create new strategies fighting against the gap of social, economy, politic and culture in the society as well as global injustice. Other is the need of religious leaders to call for non-violence militancy to their followers.
