Isi artikel
Breast cancer during pregnancy and lactation is uncommon, and misconceptions regarding its prognosis and treatment continue to exist. Delay in diagnosis remains a significant clinical problem, and probably accounts for the overall poor prognosis in pregnant patients with breast cancer. When matched for age and stage of disease, the prognosis in pregnant women with breast cancer is no different than that of young, nonpregnant patients with breast cancer. Aggressive surgical treatment is warranted in patients with pregnancy-associated breast cancer; therapeutic abortion may play a role in individual cases when chemotherapy or radiation therapy is essential.
