Isi artikel
Recent studies that use molecular biology techniques are providing insight into the genetic alterations that occur in patients with pancreatic cancer. Families in which more than one member has developed pancreatic cancer offer a unique opportunity to study the genetic events responsible for the development of these cancers. To this end, persons from families prone to develop pancreatic cancer are being enrolled in a national registry located at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. It is hoped that genetic studies eventually will aid in the early diagnosis and treatment of pancreatic cancer.
