Isi artikel
Open and laparoscopic cholecystectomy are both highly safe, definitive procedures for the treatment of patients with symptomatic cholelithiasis. To determine standards for comparison, contemporary morbidity and mortality data pertaining to both approaches are reviewed. Specific types of complications, their relative incidence, and risk factors are assessed. Particular emphasis is given to the clinical recognition and diagnosis of biliary tract complications that have become a major focal point for comparison of laparoscopic with open cholecystectomy.
