Isi artikel
Recent developments in laparoscopic surgical techniques, especially the successful introduction of laparoscopic cholecystectomy, have caused an explosive wave of interest in the complications associated with these procedures as well as in the prevention and management of these complications. Furthermore, with laparoscopic cholecystectomy essentially replacing the open technique for routine cholecystectomy, a growing concern is apparent regarding the ability to train general surgeons in the management of complicated cholecystectomy, common bile duct explorations, or repair of bile duct injuries. This article explores recent advances in the prevention of bile duct injuries during laparoscopic procedures and reviews the problems that are encountered during open procedures.
