Isi artikel
Intermittent claudication is a relatively common disorder that is present in a subset of patients with lower extremity atherosclerotic disease. Tobacco smokers should be urged to quit because of their higher rate of lower extremity and cardiovascular adverse outcomes with respect to nonsmokers. Although lower extremity morbidity rates are generally low, patients with claudication frequently have coexistent cardiovascular disease, giving them a significantly increased risk of cardiovascular mortality and morbidity. Patients should, therefore, be selected carefully for interventional management.
