Isi artikel
Neck lesions are common in infancy and childhood. Most are benign, congenital, or inflammatory lesions but many require surgical excision because of potential infectious complications. Differentiation of the less acutely inflamed lymphadenopathies from neoplastic lesions such as Hodgkin’s lymphoma and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma becomes more significant in the older and adolescent. Nevertheless, if a clearly defined congenital infectious cause cannot be demonstrated, neoplasia must be out by histopathologic evaluation of biopsy material.
