Chronic visceral ischemia (intestinal angina) is an uncommon disorder that is difficult to diagnose. A typical history of postprandial abdominal pain and weight loss together with occlusion of at least two of the major splanchnic arteries were traditionally required for the diagnosis. Surgical revascularization can relieve the symptoms and prevent intestinal infarction.
