In this environment of misunderstanidng and apprehension about derivatives, it is important for business economists to develop an intuitive understanding of these instruments and assist firms in developing a prudent derivatives strategy. It is also important for the users and policy makers to comprehend the public policy issues arising from the development of these new financial products.
