Isi artikelThe energy policy act of 1992 marks the begginig of a period of restructuring for the electric utility industry. The declining cost rationale for the industry is no longer valid. The act guarantees transmission access to a wide range of potential competitive producers of power. The impact of this change wil be a wholesale power market that is determined by competitive forces, not cost - plus rate making. The prospect of retain transmission services between generators and ultimate consumers will have a more dramatic impact on the industry and place many firms under great financial pressure that may threaten their survival.
