Isi artikel
Magnetic resonance imaging has become an important diagnostic tool in the evaluation of pediatric cardiovascular disease by allowing high-quality morphologic and function information. Although cardiac echocardiography remains the first-line examination in most patients, magnetic resonance imaging has a complementary role and may obviate the need for cardiac cineangiography. This article highlights common clinical indications for MR imaging, such as the evaluation of aortic arch anomalies causing airway compression, coarctation of the aorta, pulmonary arterial and venous abnormalities, and cardiac and paracardiac masses. An introduction to basic MR principles and the most widely applied MR techniques is included for the non radiologist.
