The causes of limb length discrepancy in children vary greatly, from congenital problems and developmental delay to post-traumatic conditions. Early detection and treatment of limb length discrepancy offer long-term satisfaction to the child and his or her family. To achieve success, we must (1) identify limb length discrepancy through proper history and clinical examination; (2) understand the potential side effects of limb length discrepancy; and (3) become familiar with the orthopaedic surgeon’s treatment options and goals.
