Isi artikelUnlike U. S. firms, japanese firms fo not seek to maximize profits, wither short or long run. Instead, japanese firms seek to maximize employee welfare, or promote company prestige. Consequently, japanese forms will sell more goods at lower prices, reduced marginal costs faster in technologically progressive industries, decouple production and price decisions from production costs, act as if they had a lower cost of capital, and overpay for assets. The implications of such behaviour are not good for U. S. and european companies.
