The adolescent presenting with “cardiovascular” complaints is quite common; however, to diagnose true cardiac pathology is rare. In the first section of this review, we discuss the common complaints that are often felt to be “cardiac” in origin, and we review and appropriate diagnostic work-up. The second section of this review is devoted to common cardiac diseases in adolescents frequently encountered by the primary care physician.
