Hearing loss may finally cause physical deafness usually found in industrial workers during routine activity in an environment crowded by engine noise. PT Pindo Deli Pulp and Paper Mills (PT PDPPM) Karawang is a national scale production company using many kinds of engines and tousands of workers since 1976 The cross-sectional study objectives was 1) determine the average level of noise, 2) hearing loss cases reported, and 3) correlation between hearing loss and worker characteristics. The survey was done in June 2005 and 222 workers were randomly sampled from 1397 workers from the production department. The results showed that the average noise level was 65.40 dBA, 2) 64% Of workers reported hearing loss, and 3) hearing loss was significantly correlated with ago, years in occupation, and use of safety guard.
