This article describes the advantages and challenges that the World Wide Web offers for domestic violence organizations. Discussion and examples are provided of domestic violence organizations? use of the Web for direct services and outreach, community education advocacy, fund-raising, and solicitation of volunteers, goods, and services. Challenges include potential victimization and loss of privacy by users, resource costs, legal issues, lack of evaluation, hostile communications, and duplication of efforts. Areas for further research are suggested. |
