It’s been a long on going debate around the issue of corporate social responsibility (CSR). Although there are still some people refute the social responsibility of business institutions, many others has seen it as increasingly important now a day, especially within the context of multinational companies. This research intends to provide a real picture of how a foreign affiliated company operating in Indonesia deals with Its social responsibily and how this program is perceived by local community surrounding the company. Data were collected through in depth interviews with relevant informants and sites observation. The case shows that there exists a gap of perception of the company and the community about how good is the social responsibility of the company. This has stimulated tensions between the company and the community and therefore it calls for a proper evaluation of the company on its CSR program.
