The author has overseen establishment of the Qianxi program, which has involved a range of activities, including establishment of a Women?s Legal Resource Center, to raise legal consciousness and provide institutional structures to support implementation of protection for women?s rights provided by law. This article discusses the many difficulties encountered in securing protection of women?s lawful rights in practice. It examines the ways in which the Women?s Federation in conjunction with local government and local party officials have sought to overcome them. |
