Isi artikelThis article analyzes the social impacts of corruption in indonesia which has been pervasive in the last three decades. The first important social impact is unequal income distribution in the society. The disparity between rich and poor and between rural and urban worsens when financial credit is misallocated mostly to economic activities in the capital province of DKI jakarta, instead of rural areas outside java. Corruption and personalization of power have destroyed the existing system of civil society and the overall economic system in general. Government policies are formulated in an ad hoc system and policy breakthrough, instead of state budget principles. Misuse of power as a primary root of corruption problems has caused distortive market structure, leading to conglomeration process and monopoly the production and distribution system. In addition, the corruption has lead to a very bad public service performed by the civil servant or the government officier. Therefore, the reform should be directed to creating independence of bureaucracy from the central of power.
