It argues that even though the volume is rich, ambitious and broad, its six most worthwhile articles fall into one of two categories. The first category are those that explore and utilize analytical tensions in the dichotomy between cognitive perspectives on the one hand versus perspectives that take interests as given on the other. The other theme explored is that of legitimacy. Although the chapters are of uneven quality, in sum the volume combines causal, normative and forward-looking concerns in a way that reflects a broad political science agenda which is timely in a market dominated by economists and policy papers.
