Short - term problems are society's losing confidence because of low - level government credibility, disfunctioning of vital economic institutions such as banking and distribution networks, and increasing transaction costs of economic activity. Long - term problems are social injustice which is multi dimensional. Possible solutions of these problems are : economic stabilization and revitalization of the economic institutions (short - term) and reformation to generate sustainable economic growth with justice (long - term). Economic stabilization is improving aggregate equilibrium through price stabilization exchange rate and interest rate. Increasing aggregate demand can be achieved by increasing internal demand through monetary and fiscal policies, and external demand through export and foreign capital investment. Generating sustainable economic growth can be achieved by reducing market distortion, developing human resources through public investment in education and health, and creating business opportunities to private sector participation, redefining the roles of government, and enforcing the rules and regulation to reduce the economic transaction costs.
