Isi artikel
Top managers have recently witnessed a starting increase in the channels of communication available to them. In addition to the traditional letters, telephone calls and face to face discussions, new media are available such as electronic mail, staellite tele conferencing and picture telephones. These innovations seem destined to reshape managerial work and decision effectiveness. Proponents emphasize the potential of electronic media to enhance decision making with more data provided to executives in previousky non existent forms. Executives often fail to realize, however that both sending and receiving information through a communication medium is a decision that affects the meaning of the message. Harold geneen discovered that how he communicated with european subsidiaries of ITT made a big difference in his subsequent actions.
