Isi artikel
Improvements in the provision of oxygen, mechanical ventilation, tracheostomy care, enteral and parenteral nutrition, and dialysis have expanded the population of technology-dependent children. Issues and complications related to these interventions present a new set of challenges for the healthcare system. In particular, primary and subspecialty physicians must smooth the transition of these children to the home environment, and recognize medical complications and financial and psychosocial stressors inherent in the care of these patients.
