Isi artikelThere has never been a period when the study of businesses and how they are managed has been more important. This is especially true of the business i know the best the auto industry. The auto industry has changed rapidly and substantially over the last 10 yearor so as its market and its perpective have become global in scope. We've seen restructuring, remodelling, refrenching, reabilitating, regrouping, realigning, rethinking, repositioning, reclaiming, resolving, the list goes on. What used to be a straight forward business in this country. In fact a one product business in which a few essentially similar companies competed on essentially equal terms, has become very complicated. Nevertheless and despite what you may have heard, the priciples of successful management in this industry here and abroad haven't changed at all. They are exactly the same as they have always been. That is the essence of my message to you. And if it should seem to you that is offer platitudes rather than concrete solutions for the real problems we face in managing our businesses in the age of globalization, just remember this : principles are fundamental. If we get them right, and stick to them religiously, the rest should be relatively easy.
