Isi artikel
Pediatricians often encounter children, either during routine office visits or as an emergency, with ocular or visual complaints. These complaints may or may not be accompanied by objective signs of disease. Alternately, positive ocular signs may be detected during well-child visits in the absence of symptoms. Often these ocular or visual signs and symptoms point toward familiar and benign eye conditions that the pediatrician is comfortable diagnosing and managing. This article sets forth guidelines for the pediatrician for appropriate referral of a child to an ophthalmologist, preferably a pediatric ophthalmologist, for subspecialty care.
