From several phenomena in certain population growth, the use of deterministic and stochastic models are often displayed. However, in many years, there are differences in determining whether deterministic or stochastic model becomes foundation in decision making. Because of that, then this research is aimed to determine population amount by using deterministic and stochastic model. Both models are simulated by MATHLAB computer program to the data of human population obtained each month during 2000 – 2003 in Kelurahan Merjosari, Lowokwaru District of Malang Municipality. The steps in simulating both models are: (1) plotting deterministic model equation by using the obtained data, (2) plotting random number by using lattice structures, (3) plotting stochastic model by using the obtained random numbers toward data. Analysis results indicate that deterministic model showes rising smooth curve, so that this model is not appropriate for population growth. Stochastic model, on the other hand, showes random rising curve model, so this model is appropriate for determining the human population growth.
