Topical therapies and medications are a common, yet often misused, tool in the management of pediatric skin care. Because of unique differences in percutaneous drug absorption, infants and children are at increased risk for local and systemic toxicities from such agents. This article describes the risks, benefits, and appropriate usage of the more common topical agents available for children.
