Pediatric stone disease is a frequently underestimated entity that can present unique problems in its management. The article begins with a summary of general aspects of urinary stone formation and then outlines the presentation and surgical management of pediatric urinary stones. It is important to note that children have a high incidence of predisposing factors for urolithiasis. Methods of stone evaluation and approaches for the management of metabolically active stones are presented.
