In Indonesia, The half-century can certainly be said to have witnessed considerable success in the emergence ond deepening of what is often called "empowering of civil society". To make democracy become part of daily life, there must therefore be a mechanism to allow the poor and vunerable to make their voices heard, one that equalizes decision -making power and permits people of all backgrounds to take an effective part in politics (and not just at elections). Local, everyday politics is the foundation for other form of politics. Without grassroots democracy, it is impossible to sustain national democracy. For that reasons, all kinds of empowering process for marginalized groups are needed.
