This study 1 evaluated the effects of a school - based socialcognitive training program on 14 and 15 year - old students’ locus of control, as assessed by the Nowicki - Strickland Locus of Control Scale. A total of 91 students in a training group and 109 students in a comparison group were assessed before and after the program. Girls in the training condition developed significantly in the direction of higher internal control, while neither boys in the training condition nor girls or boys in the comparison condition altered their locus of control. Implications for school psychology practice are discussed.
