Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) analysis is still cornerstone and main in diagnostic of central nervous system infection. Once decision has been made to obtain CSF, further consideration is needed to decide which tests should be conducted on the precious sample of fluid and also what the interpretation of the test. Communication between the clinician and the laboratories is very helpful.
