Isi artikel
In June of 1997, a group of five scholars representing Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, and the United States met in Beijing, China. A symposium in conjunction with the International Counseling Conference was held to address the influence of technology on families. The participants assessed the positive and negative impact of technological change as well as the responses of policy and counseling. Most readers have some idea as to the impact of technology for families in the United States and in other western nations, but they might be surprised to learn how eastern families are being influenced by technology. John Naisbett indicated that nowhere are the technological trends more far reaching than in Asia. This article will provide glimpses into the effect of technology on the families of Asian nations.
