Isi artikelThe tree shaded areas (TSAs) in the green space create the cooling effect in the urban area. The cooling effect is improtant for human thermal comfort and human activity in the tropical areas. This study was to reveal the comfort lebel and thermal sensaton in the TSAs and to clarify some shade trees effects in amelloration of microclimate. Field observation questioners, and microclimate, measurements (air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed, solar radiation, and surface temperature) were conducted in the prambanan park, yogyakarta. The TSAs were classified into three categories, i.e. full shadr (FS), not full shade (NFS) and no shade (NS) including of ground surfaes difference of soft surface and hard surface. The TSAs with FS was significant as comfort area with the comfort level of comfort and thermal sensation of coll. The reduction of solar heat reached 86,8% and the reduction of air temperature was 2,7 celcius degree. Ten shade trees in the park indicated high effect of solar heat absorption by 75% and above on leaf and branching density. It was not recommended for human activity in the TSAs with hard surfaces in the tropical areas.
