It is not easy and not always to find an exact mathematical solution for problems in critical speed phenomena. In fact, analytical solution can only be applied to some simple conditions. For problem concerning complex material propertu, loading, geometry and boundary condition, in general there are adequate assumption and idealisation to achieve the required mathematical solution, and also to give an empirical solution and satisfactory result in safety and economic prinf of view. The relation between pure physical system and exact mathematical solution can be realised by providing mathematical model to explain ideal substitution system including all assumption of physical problems. As preliminary stage of research, it will be built an experimental tool for critical speed phenomena which simple specimen shaft that can be observed critical speed on shaft phenomena studied experimentally and its comparison with mathematical model rayleigh's method and dunkerley's equation. Produced experimental tool with geometrical size of 550 x 250 x 300 mm, observing experimental result of critical speed for three types materials : brass, aluminium, and steel of the shaft with equal diameter found difference only of 4,58% , 4,43% and 3,31% respectively. This result can be used as practical usage.
