As a profession psychology needs to define its professional jurisdiction, namely its special taks and services. the definition of the types of competenciens of psychologists will help to define the professional jurisdiction of psychology as a profession as well as to provide a clear direction for the education of psychologists. This article presents a model of six core competenciens of psychologists which comprises those in : (1) relationship, (2) assessment, (3) intervention, (4) research and evaluation, (5) consultation and education, (6) management and supervision. this model has been adopted from the higher education system in psychology in the United Stated (Bent, 1991; Weis, 1991). it also presents two scenarios for the curriculum development of higher education of psychology to accomodate the six core competenciens of psychologists, based on kurikulum program sarjana psikologi 1994.
