It is widely assumed that the thought of ibn taymiyyah became a model for cak nur in responding to the plurality of islamic thought as well as in understanding tasawuf (islamic mysticism). Furthermore, cak nur's ideas on ta sawuf has been influenced not only by ibn taymiyyah but also by ibn qoyyim al -jauziyyah and Buya Hamka, known as neo-sufism group.
