Isi artikelThe specificity of kinase inhibitors can be rapidly determined with a new in vitro competition assay. Kinase inhibitors are an important new class of cancer drugs, demonstrating powerful clinical activity in tumors in which the target kinase is activated by mutation. The dramatic success of imatinib (Gleevec, Novartis Pharma AG), an inhibitor of the mutant kinase Bcr-Ab, in treating chonic myelogneous leukimia has fueled a search for new kinase targets in other cancers and for new kinase inhibitors. Most kinase inhibitors in clinical development bind multiple kinases, and with about 500 human protein kinases a rapid and reliable method to identify all inhibitor targets would be of value...
