Jeff Kingston, a professor of history and the Director of Asian Studies at the Unversity of temple in Jaoan, has been succesful in attractively revealing social, economic, and cultural changes which shape the face of Japan in the alst decade of the 20th century and in the beginning of the 21st century. This book is rich of detailed pictures about the struggles of various groups of the society and individuals in challenging the status quo which was born from the chronic structural corruption of Japan's inc, namely a close and interrelated connection among politicians, bureaucras, and business persons, particularly those with strong capitals.
