Isi artikelJapan during the last quarter of the 20th century until before the burst of its bubble economy in the beginning of 1990s, was well known for workplace models, including the Japanese model management consisting of three important pilalrs. These pillars consisted of : life time employment (shuushin koyou), seniority based wage (nenkoujouretsu), and corporate based workers union (kigyou betsu kumiai), symbolizing a relatively homogenous working pattern. However with the prolonged ecibinuc recession, there has been a major shift in working patterns, with the phenomenon of freeters as one of its manifestation. This paper will highlight the current situation of freeters with an internal and external background of being freeters, in order to see more closely the diversifying working paterns in today's Japan.
