The basic idea of this research is that the monetary crisis which started in 1997 has caused an inability of Indonesia in maintainin the economic fundamentals. in addition, the uncontrollable overseas debt has worsened the economy of Indonesia. Consequently, it has brought down the Indonesian economy to the lowest level of growth minus 13.68 percent in 1998. This reseach used qunatitative analysis. For the estimation of the impacts of the crisis on exports, imports, and the foreign exchange a simultaneous equation model is applied and estimated by 2SLS method using Shazam. The findings show that the monetary crisis has a postitve effect on the dollar appreciation in terms of rupiah. Meanwhile, the monetary crisis ahs a negative effect on imports.
