There are two popular policies that can be conducted by goverment to achieve a certain economic target. The policies are monetary and fiscal policies. It is important to know which policy is more effcetive. Based on this, the aim of this study is to know the effectiveness of monetary and fiscal policies in Indonesia. For the purpose of analysis, the study used 1975 - 1998 time series data. The model assumed that there is equilibrium in goods market and money market. For estimation of the model, OLS method is applied. The result of this study shows that the monetary policy is more effective in affceting the national income of Indonesia than fiscal policy. The implication of the finding is that the goverment must spur the real sector by using monetary policy more often than fiscal policy.
