Isi artikel
This article explores, through the analysis of empirical material, the existing relationships between formal elements of secular rituality as undertaken by Mexico City's popular sectors and the different formats of videoculture. The general idea the author offers is that there is a specific dialogue between mass culture and the secular rites that significantly elaborates the construction of meaning. To do this, the author proposes an analysis of the transformation of what he has called the ritual chain among the popular sectors, which reproduces, symbolically, not only the change in perceptions of what is real, but it also acts out the new social practices.
