in February 2004, Chinese Ministry of Education (MOE) launched a teaching reform featuring the inlegrazion ofthe computer and networking in College English learning to stimulate students’ motivation and to improve their communicative competence. Up to now, Chinese CALL is still in infancy. This article reviews the CALL literature and ideni~/iessome common concerns for the CALL initiative. The article finally points out the directions for belier delivery of CALL in Chinese universities.
