Isi artikel
Most critiques of Reengineering, Total Quality Management and Sociotechnical Systems argue that they do not live up to their promises. In many cases, the experts' pledges of improvements in productivity, profitability, efficiency, effectiveness and innovation have simply not materialized. Careful examination of the three orientations to organizational change and improvements reveals some striking similarities and differences. A brief review of three mini cases illustrates that the current confusion stems from the misuse of concepts, labels, and change processes. An eclectic change orientation that builds on the strengths of Reengineering, Total Quality Management and Sociotechnical Systems thinking is proposed.
