Isi artikelThermogravimetric analysis has been applied to study the ignition mechanism of high and low rank coals. The coal samples were selected from three locations of indonesian coal resources. The thermogravimetrci experiments were carried out in air and nitrogen atmospheres with particle sizes ranging from 45 to 500 um. The objectives of the works described cover two areas : a. determination of the characteristic temperatures and b. investigation of the ignition mechnaisms of the coal samples. The three coal samples were seen to have different characteristic temperatures and ignition mechanisms related to their analytical properties.
