Isi artikelThe effect of additive in combustion chamber on the wear of machine element surrounding the chamber was studying using 4 stroke engine. Experiment was done for 100 hours, The engine was prepared using ASTM D4857-88 standard and the rest of experiment was done by using an 3 HP compressor as the load. It was found that the amount of deposits in the combustion chamber for engine using base oils + additive was less than engine only using base oils but the varnish on the cylinder liner for engine using base oils + additive was thicker than engine only using base oils. The wear rate of machine element surrounding the chamber was not significantly worn except for the piston ring. Fuel consumption for the engine using base oils + additive was better than engine only using base oils.
